Before i start writing/you start reading, i must first warn you that this post contain hell of an update because i simply could not think of a way to cut it short. So here goes...
Yesterday our long awaited moment has finally arrived, that is the completion of our Tech Phase and the next hurdle would be the ATPL which would be a lot harder than this one. Even though this phase might seem rather insignificant to certain people, for me i think it's a fairly remarkable milestone as it signify the end of the first stage of our journey. Although the result is not out yet as of now, i am sure that everyone will make it through! All the best, buddies!
We took our exam at the CAAS centre situated in Terminal 2, Changi Airport. Woke up really early in the morning around 6.15am, took our breakfast and hastily made our way to the Airport even though the exam is scheduled to start at 9am. Nobody wanted to risk getting late :P So what happened next? We arrived too early at around 7.30am and some of us even began to act weird, talking crap and roaming around to hunt chicks :D Some of us tried to do a final revision to squeeze whatever that's left as much as possible into our brains. Some did not want to think much about it and tried to relax instead, even though i was sure there was no way it would have been possible. Gahahaha... of course all went well in the end and i was pretty sure everyone did well on their papers. The entire exam lasted for a bout 3 1/2 hours but most of us were done within the first 2 hours.
St. Luke's Hospital, not too shabby huh? :)
I guess that's all for the current updates...next would be a big update on my OBS experience on Day 5 which would be the first day of my Land Expedition. Enjoy!
Day 5 (Land Expedition - Day 1)
Insufficient sleep thanks to yesterday's preparation. Body felt so heavy, new blisters just keep forming up non-st0p and the existing one simply keep on growing larger and larger. Hurts like hell, muscle pain is less serious now though. I think i am finally starting to adapt myself to the physical stress.
Of course, there is this stupid 2.4km morning run again. This time i found myself took less intermitten rest during the run. Good stuff, but for some weird reason, i was clocked slower at the end of the run, in fact a lot slower @ 23 mins 45 sec. Ah, who cares about the time anyway...as long as i managed to finish the run (Of course with the help, encouragement & endless cheering from my buddies! It meant a lot to me, really!) We departed late for the land expedition which was supposed to be 9.00am, but we departed at 10am instead.
We treked through roads, trails, hills with very few chances to rest in between checkpoints carrying over 10kg loads worth of rations (crackers, can foods, fruits) and tents each. Some carried even more. Blisters were torturing me like nuts but i fought it somehow. We walked about 12km and it took about 5 hours and 30 mins. By the end of the journey, most of the blisters i have seen this morning grew in size varying from 2 times or more compared to the original size. OUCH!
Left : Big Slacker when others are pitching the tents :P Right : Err, what am i supposed to do with these?
Let's get our shelter done. Quickkkkk! (/me sleeps)
Dinner! Yummie timeeee!! (/me wakes up)
The tent was so friking warm so i decided to lay outside instead. No further activity after 6pm and i'm going to sleep as early as possible. A very rare chance for me to be able to sleep so early, why waste it? And best of all there was no running!!! Weeeeeee...... Sentry groups were formed to take turn watching out each other throughout the night. I didn't know when is my turn though. Never mind, they will let me know eventually. Haha!
The sky tonight was so clear, full of stars, with so many busy aircrafts landing and taking off from Changi Airport nearby every now and then. Fascinating! I can't wait to become the one inside the cockpit one day and being fascinated by other OBS course at that time instead :)! Ahhh...gonna sleep now. Need to wake up later to watch the campsite! Nighty niteee....
